Roger Federer was born the 8th of August 1981 and is a Swiss professional tennis player. Nowadays he is in the No. 3 of the ATP ranking, but he’s considered as the best player of all time. He, and Rafael Nadal, are the only active players who have won the four Grand Slam tournaments. He began playing tennis at age of three and during his junior stage he obtained important great results. He became a professional tennis player on 1998 but he didn’t stand out until 2001. In just three years (from 2001 to 2004) Federer arrived in the first place of the ranking. He has got lots of awards and records during his professional career. He is the. winner of: 16 Grand Slam, 4 ATP World Tour Finals, 17 ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, 4 ATP World Tour Finals and the gold medal in doubles in 2008. In addition, he has the ability to play on all surfaces, rare condition that has allowed him to score victories in every one of them. On July the 5th of 2009, he became the player with the most Grand Slam tournament wins after winning his sixth Wimbledon and overcome the plus mark of Pete Sampras (14 tournaments). Because of his successful career, Federer has won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year in four consecutive years (2005-2008) and was named player of the decade by the ITF.
We have chose Roger Federer because we love the way that he plays tennis (all his shots seem that have been taken from the “Tennis Encyclopaedia”!). Also, because we think that he is the best player of all time (so we think that everyone have to know who is this man!). To conclude, we can say that Federer has marked an epoch in the history of tennis, and not everyone con does it.
